About George

Hello, and thanks for visiting my campaign website! If you’re reading this, you probably care as much about Pennsylvania’s 4th district as I do. This has been my home since childhood. When my father retired from the military, my parents settled in Adams County. For the next 30 years they owned and operated a beef cattle farm near Littlestown, where I attended public school. My parents were both very active in the local community: school board, church, farmers’ associations, the Lion’s Club, the public library...you name it! My father was also chair of the Adams County Democratic Party for many years, instilling in me a lasting interest in political affairs.

I retained my residency in Pennsylvania while a college student as well as during my 20 years of service as an active duty U.S. Army officer. After my military retirement, I worked for five years in the private sector and with the federal government. Feeling called to ministry, I went to seminary at The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg and was ordained in 2013. I have served my congregation in East Berlin for the last four years, and have enjoyed getting to know the people of York, Adams, Cumberland, and Dauphin counties through my church-related work.

“The 4th Congressional District is our home—the place where we have family, friends, and a life we treasure.”

My family continues to keep me rooted in this area. I am happily married and the proud father of two teenagers. My wife, Donna, owns and operates a small business in Littlestown. My daughter, Alexandra, graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg and currently studies agriculture at Delaware Valley University. My son, Nicholas, is a sophomore at Cumberland Valley, where he enjoys playing rugby, singing with the choir, and performing in musicals. We live in Dillsburg and have a lot of fun traveling, going to movies and baseball games, cooking on the grill, and attending church together.

“Many of the values I live by came from my parents...”

My father, Colonel Fred W. Scott, served 31 years on active duty in the U.S. Army. He understood that serving requires putting the interests of our nation and its citizens above our own. My mother, Betty, emigrated to the U.S. from England in 1946 and worked for the International Monetary Fund for a decade before marrying my father. Both of them knew all too well the suffering that comes from war. Together, they worked hard to build a life in a nation governed by law. I learned the value of civic engagement from my mom and dad, and I hope to continue their legacy of public service.
